| The Girls Bill of Rights Project |
The Girls Bill of Rights Marketing Campaign, a project of Girls Incorporated of Sioux City, actively involves girls in the planning and implementation of a marketing campaign projected to reach approximately 800 girls in northwest Iowa, northeast Nebraska and southeast South Dakota. Over the past several months girls involved in this project have learned about the Girls Bill of Rights along with media and marketing methods. Girls then designed the marketing plan and materials, pitched the project to local media and advertising outlets for airplay, and finally promoted the project throughout the community. The photo below is a billboard currently visible at the intersection of Highway 75 and Sixth Street in Sioux City. The billboard and slogan was designed by the girls with the help of graphic artists from Avery Brothers Sign Co. Televised public service announcements for the project will begin airing during the summer of 2005. Radio PSAs will also air at that time. The girls wrote the scripts and performed in the tv commercials as well as doing the voiceovers for the radio spots. This project was made possible through a grant from the Iowa Women's Foundation.
